Mathematics is used in everyday life. Cookcroft suggests that students should develop their mathematical skills because it’s used in all facets of life, it improves the ability to think logically and improves accuracy and spatial awareness, and gives satisfaction to the efforts to solve challenging problems (Cookcroft). In today’s generation, mathematics creates plenty of opportunities for students’ futures as technology evolves and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) becomes more important as the world progresses. Students can develop their mathematical skills regardless of level through 1-1 tutoring. Depending on the needs of the student, an appropriate tutor will be matched and our tutors will do their best to ensure that students develop the mathematical skills they need to build their confidence and to succeed and to hopefully use their mathematical skills to be part of the progress.

I love teaching students for Math mainly because I feel a sense of achievement when I see them improve their grades through my tutoring.
With 9 years of professional teaching experience, it’s easy to understand why a lot of students are struggling with Math. A common reason is that they are LAZY! They don’t practise math enough at home. Parents don’t realize this until they find out from their report card! I have done many questions from textbooks and received math honors through repetition!
The way I tutor students is simple and efficient!
First, I have a lot of valuable resources collected over the past 9 years of teaching classes. When the students come to my sessions, I ask students which topics they are struggling with. They may need help with trigonometry, for example. I will print out a 10-page booklet and then distribute it to them. The booklet contains two parts: examples and LOTS of exercises!
Then, we begin the session. First, it’s explained to them in one single example. Students often respond, “I understand, I understand” after explaining the example. This is difficult to believe unless students show that they can solve the questions in front of me. If they manage to figure out the questions by themselves, this means that they can do well on the tests from their schools. Therefore, I ask students to do a lot of exercises during the sessions. This is the best and fastest way to improve their grades! In fact, it’s worked out for our students at iSmart!
Lastly, I have many years of experience teaching students. If you are taking Math and Science courses from one of these schools, I can help! Grade 12 Math teachers can be very stern when giving good marks to students so average class marks are fairly low, but we can help!
