English
English skills translate into many different fields. English is important because it develops writing skills, reading comprehension, and critical thinking that students will use outside of education. Tutors at iSmart will help students develop their ability to write a thesis, learn the format and structure of an academic essay, and will also help students learn vocabulary and phrasing. English can be intimidating for students, but like anything else, it takes practise. Our tutors at iSmart will provide students with supplementary material and the guidance they need to succeed in English. Developing a strong English foundation also opens up opportunities for students as many job fields value the skills that are learned in English.
Math
Learning math is like building a condo. A good foundation is very important and students should not miss any concepts before they learn more complex concepts. To make sure students understand what they are learning from school weekly, and to make sure students complete their homework on time, iSmart tutors will help students by reviewing concepts they learned in school and by helping students understand through their homework. If students can complete and understand their homework, students will be better prepared for their exams.
Science
School teachers may not have enough time to go through all of the examples in class. Students need to know how to do the different examples and exercises from their school workbooks. When a lot of students struggle with their work in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, it usually begins in the first steps. Students tend to leave homework blank because a lack of understanding at the first steps is intimidating and can create a fear of getting it wrong. Then in the next class, students are assigned more work, which compounds their concerns, and leaves students stuck and in need of extra help. iSmart tutors can not only help students get out of this cycle, but they can prevent it by providing students the skills and tools needed to succeed.
IB & AP
Both IB and AP, parts of the material students learn, are covered in university. Therefore, school teachers teach students material at a fast pace. Students should not be behind from every class in these programs. Therefore, iSmart can help students weekly to make sure they are meeting the pace of their programs. For example, IB students need to complete Pre Calculus 11 and Pre Calculus 12 in grade 11, and students have to complete Calculus, Statistics, Linear Algebra, when they are in grade 12. This is a tough and intensive program. Therefore, to complete homework from school and to understand the material weekly, the key to getting an IB diploma and completing AP successfully is to practice consistently to gain the skills needed to keep up with the pace of these programs.
